Japanese Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Shunsuke Takei paid his first visit to Djibouti on May 6th, 2017. During the stay, he met with Mr. Mahamoud Ali Youssouf, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, to talk about the security to be firmly strengthened in the region with the support of Japanese Self-Defense Forces which has its only base outside of Japan in Djibouti. Mr. Takei also visited the Djibouti Coast Guard to take the patrol boat offered by Japan. Celebrating 40 years Independence of Djibouti, he highlighted the more developed relations between the two countries as well as Japan playing the leading role in the region.
